How To Connect To Your Soul…part 1

When clients start aligning with their life purpose, one of the most common questions I get asked is, “How do I know what my Soul wants?” and my answer is usually something like this:

“Listen to the aspect of you that knows; the aspect of you that’s in touch with your body’s intuition, speaks from the heart and pursues what you desire from life without drama, or chaos.

When we begin to connect with who we are at Soul level, we notice there isn’t additional ‘story’ around the guidance we receive.

How do you know when you’re tapping into Soul guidance vs Ego?

The ego assigns additional commentary, doubt and emotional response; the Soul doesn’t. In my experience, Soul guidance is clear and straightforward, often with a pleasant hint of humour that matches yours, as if it were a succinct transmission directly to the core of who you are. Your intuition picks up the signal immediately because it resonates as truth

In this episode below, I share with you a practice I’ve used in my own life, and with my clients, to help you connect with who you are at Soul level and this week’s affirmation to help support this process.

The first part of this exercise involves timeline work. We’re doing to be connecting to a childhood version of you.

This gives you the opportunity to step out of the logical mind and tap directly into your intuition; as children, we are in touch with our instincts, we’re honest about our needs and we speak from the heart. These are key aspects to connecting with your Soul.

As children, we haven’t yet learned to second-guess ourselves and build up walls around our needs and wants, to block us from experiencing what we desire from life.

What you need for this exercise:

  1. A photograph of you as a child; digital or hard copy.
  2. A journal, or something to write in.

With this exercise, I invite you to get to know yourself as a child again.

Spend some time with your photo and ask your childhood self the following questions:

  1. What do you love to do?
  2. What’s important to you?
  3. What do you need the most?

Allow your responses to flow without self-criticism, or slipping into censorship.

The more freely you allow yourself to connect with the younger version of you, the more information you’ll begin to receive.

Notice how you speak to your childhood self; notice your tone and the kind of words you use to encourage your inner child to express herself/himself.

How is it different to the way you talk to your adult self?

When you begin to listen to your inner child, you begin to listen to your body’s signals and learn to identify what a true state of bliss means for you. This state of bliss, is the state of Soul. The Soul knows only oneness, freedom and connection to All That Is.

When you’ve had a chance to watch the video and you’ve given the exercise a go, I’d love to hear from you:

  • What three things did you learn from your younger self? What does she/he love? What’s important to her/him? What does she/he need?
  • How did speaking to your younger self differ from the way you talk to yourself now, as an adult?

Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you so much for watching and for opening your heart to this work,
